Starlit North Sea Kyanite Earrings

I adore Kyanite, it's one of my most favourite genstones and along with Iolite I wear it as much as I use it. When it was first discovered in the Himalayas it was thought to be a very high quality sapphire but with its flashes of shimmering silver it was designated a gemstone in it's own right. 

For me it is the perfect representation of the North Sea on a clear night and I wanted to create this in a pair of earrings using these two incredible Kyanite cabochon cut stones. I set them in sterling silver and then embellished them with silver stars and dolphin (or whale or mermaid!) tails. I then added some hammered lengths to create a fringe effect which shimmers and sparkles like the waves.

These are exceptionally beatiful earrings that will be loved by anyone who has a deep affinity with the ocean, marine wildlife or just loves things of beauty!
